In Nova Scotia, Scottish culture and traditions are followed. Some of the early European settlers, however, were French and English. Its capital Halifax was named for a Yorkshire town and has London characteristics. The rugged coastline is lined with small coves.

Nova Scotia is accessible by car, bus, rail car-ferry or air.

Halifax is located on a hilly peninsula surrounded by one of the world’s great natural harbors. In early times the hills were covered with fortresses and pastures. Most of the fortresses are gone and the pastures have been turned into public gardens and parks. Halifax has much of the activity and culture of larger cities but without the crowding.
